On-Page Search Engine Optimisation


On page optimization refers to all measures that can be taken directly within the website in order to improve its position in the search rankings. it also refers to all the things that you can do on your website to help you rank higher, such as page titles, internal linking, meta tags & descriptions, etc.

page titles:

The title element of a web page is meant to be an accurate and concise description of a page's content. This element is critical to both user experience and search engine optimization. it must include the the main keywords for that page.

meta tags:


A meta tag is a tag in the Hypertext Markup Language  that describes some aspect of the contents of a Web page. The information that you provide in a metatag is used by search engines to index a page so that someone searching for the kind of information the page contains will be able to find it.   


meta descriptions:

Meta descriptions are HTML attributes that provide concise explanations of the contents of web pages. The meta description is usually placed after the title tag and before the meta keywords tag. When optimizing a web page for search engines (SEO), it is considered a best practice to use meta description tags.



body tags(h1,h2,h3,h4):

while writing a pargraph our content is subdivided into many sub headings. thus
it make easier for people to read. These sections can be given heading, as h1,h2,h3,h4 etc. usually h1 is for main title and h2,h3,h4 for other headings.


keyword density:

 Keyword density is the percentage of times a keyword or phrase appears on a web page compared to the total number of words on the page. In the context of search engine optimization keyword density can be used as a factor in determining whether a web page is relevant to a specified keyword or keyword phrase.



internal links:

Placing links to your other website pages, is a great way of improving your site.
Internal links are links that go from one page on a domain to a different page on the same domain, so that user is able to get a lot of information.


URL:

URL is basically Uniform Resource Locator. Better crawling can be possible by using search engine friendly URLs. A URL is human-readable text that was designed to replace the numbers (IP addresses) that computers use to communicate with servers


images:

Images are very helpful in describing a  content efficiently.  one of the key ways to make your content look attractive is by using lots of lovely images.

  Anchor text optimization 

Anchor text is the visible hyper linked text on the page. Anchor text can significantly improve your page relevance. select that text where we want to give hyper link, and go to  link icon and paste the corresponding  URL of the page where we want to navigate.

Optimization means making your website page more attractive. it can be done by different ways. one among them is content optimization. title of the page must be attractive, the pages meta description, first sentence of the paragraph, use of suitable keywords etc are some of the optimization technique.

Authorship optimization or Editorial power is the way for article authors to connect with Google profile to their published content to create ownership.

 As from the early 1990's, the idea of using highly visible sites in search engines brought valuable results in the business fields. Search engine optimization is often about making small modifications to parts of your website. When viewed individually, these changes might seem like incremental improvements, but when combined with other optimizations, they could have a noticeable impact on your site's user experience and performance in organic search results. we all know that in earlier days there were only minority users for internet , at the same time amount of available information was relatively small. Access was mainly restricted to some areas only.
 
 A Brief History of SEO

  •  Site directories were one of the first methods used to facilitate access to information resources on the network. First project of this kind was Yahoo and was opened in April 1994. But it did not actively seek out resources.

  •  Brian Pinkerton creates the first crawler named Web crawler to index entire pages and this project was started in 1994 and was the first full-featured search engine.
  •   Lycos was launched in 1994 and is one of the earliest crawler based search engine.
  • In 1995 Lycos and AltaVista search engines appeared. For many years Alta Vista was the major player in this field
  • Sergey Brin and Larry Page created Google as a research project at Stanford University in the year 1997. The most popular search engine in the world is Google. 
  • At present Google, Yahoo and MSN Search are three leading international search engines with each having their own databases and search algorithms.
  • In 1999 altavista relaunches its website and changes its algorithm,as a result lots of sites disappear.

emd EMD stands for exact match domain.it was launched in september 2012. The main aim is to prevent poor quality sites from ranking well. This false ranking is happening because they had words that match search terms in their domain names.
